A Ministry of the ELCA - Supported by World Hunger

What We Do

What We Do

The Lutheran Office for Public Policy in Wisconsin is an advocacy office of the ELCA. We advocate for justice, the protection of human rights, and responsible stewardship of God’s creation with a special emphasis on hunger and poverty. Our advocacy efforts center on state public policy, with a focus on five distinct priority areas.

LOPPW builds relationships with political leaders and expands our advocacy network of ELCA members across the state.  We also join with other faith-based groups and secular organizations to deepen our impact and support the efforts of others who act as instruments of God’s peace. Through direct advocacy, coalition building and partnerships, and developing advocates within ELCA congregations, our office seeks to promote state policies and practices that reflect our Lutheran values.

LOPPW also hosts presentations, workshops, and other events to equip Lutherans as advocates and inform communities on our priorities. See our Events page for more information. To have LOPPW host an event or workshop in your community, contact our director at cindyc@loppw.org.
