Action Alerts & Campaigns

Below are action alerts supported by the Lutheran Office for Public Policy in Wisconsin (LOPPW). We are also engaged on other issues in various ways. Explore our priority issues here.

Hunger & FoodShare

Congress made cuts and changes to the SNAP program (FoodShare program in Wisconsin) that will require more paperwork for more people, more work for the state, less federal funding to run the program, and a potential penalty of up to $205 million in additional costs if Wisconsin’s error rate rises too much. Wisconsin’s Department of Human Services needs additional state funding to help Wisconsin comply with the new requirements, but state lawmakers have not acted to provide the needed funding.

Clean Water

An estimated 1 in 3 Wisconsin families get their drinking water from private wells, but many do not know about threats to contamination of their water. A new bill has been introduced that would help inform local health officials about water contamination.

LOPPW is urging legislators to support this bill. Read our letter, read our hearing testimony, and watch a video with stories from impacted Wisconsinites.
