The Lutheran Office for Public Policy in Wisconsin (LOPPW) is celebrating today’s signing of Assembly Bill 759, legislation that will enable DACA recipients in Wisconsin to obtain professional licensures.

Earlier this session, LOPPW testified in support of AB 759, affirming that talented and trained individuals who call Wisconsin home should be able to fully contribute their skills to our communities.

We are grateful to members of the Wisconsin state legislature for their bipartisan collaboration and support of this bill, and to Governor Evers, who signed the bill into law today.

This bill reflects long-standing values of dignity, fairness, and opportunity for all people, and it strengthens Wisconsin’s workforce at a time when we are in critical need of skilled workers in fields such as nursing, educaiton, plumbing, and more.

LOPPW was honored to have representatives attend the bill signing. Bishop Paul Erickson of the Greater Milwaukee Area Synod and Doug Dehler, Secretary of the LOPPW Policy Council, attended to mark this important milestone.

Passage of this bill is a meaningful step forward for our state. LOPPW remains committed to advocating for policies that welcome the stranger, uphold human dignity, and advance just and compassionate public policy.
