On Feb. 5, representatives from the Lutheran Office for Public Policy in Wisconsin attended synod events focused on worship, learning, and fellowship.

The Greater Milwaukee Area Synod hosted “Together in Mission” in Wauwatosa, and the South Central Synod of Wisconsin hosted the “LEAD Conference” in Madison. Both events featured workshops, worship, and community-building opportunities for rostered and lay leaders.

Together in Mission: The Year of Collaboration

LOPPW Director Kacy Kostiuk attended the Together in Mission event to share information about advocacy and learn more about synod and congregational priorities and initiatives.

The event focused on the theme of collaboration and included a presentation and workshops from featured speaker Tia Richardson, who introduced the design process for a collaborative synod mural. Other workshops covered topics such as conflict resolution, women in ministry, talking without microaggressions, having hard conversations, leading in ambiguous times, and more.

LEAD Conference: Forward

The Rev. Andy Twiton, LOPPW Policy Council Member and pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison, attended the LEAD Conference.

The conference focused on the theme “forward,” rooted in the reality that we are being pulled in many directions and not always sure where we will land. Featured speaker Gracy Duddy Pomroy, Director of the Stewardship Leaders Program at Luther Seminary, spoke about sustainable models for ministry.
